'The Cuphead Show' - The Fleischers Would Be Proud

I love indie video games, and Cuphead is no exception. Its' retro, rubberhose inkblot art style is quite appealing. Thus, it is the perfect video game to make into a cartoon. Let's take a sip of The Cuphead Show.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of snobby elitists in the cartoon community who think every single show has to be dark and story-driven. Because of this, they all left bad reviews on the series because it is silly and self-contained. Prior to the series release, there were also ignoramuses who criticized the show's animation and directly insulted the animators. I hope you jerks step on a LEGO brick. Not everything has to be dramatic and deep. Why can't things be fun?

And wouldn't you know it, the show IS fun! The show is not only retro in its bouncy animation (provided by the goated Mercury Filmworks), but the jazz music, general tropes used, and New York-accented voice acting genuinely feel like they are out of a classic cartoon, particularly the works of the Fleischer Brothers.

Similar to Arcane, the show is accessible to both fans of the original game and newcomers. The first episode sums up the plot pretty well. It is even accessible to kids (the original game isn't for adults, but it is generally recommended that people 10 and up play it as per as the ESRB).

Writing - 2/2. The dialogue is hilarious and snappy. It's witty and appealing to all ages, without using the typical post-modern millennial dialogue that some other current cartoons suffer from..most of the time anyways.

Voice Acting - 2/2. The boisterous New York accents are just perfect for the show. When making an animated show, it is imperative that you give your characters unique and memorable voices, and the show achieves that task.

Animation and Art - 2/2. You simply cannot go wrong with Mercury Filmworks. I don't know what those Twitter jerks were thinking.

Characters - 2/2. Mugman and Cuphead work off each other very well. Plenty of the side characters are charming, even the devil.

Music - 2/2. The soundtrack is perfect for a retro-style show, as it is catchy Kansas City Jazz.

Overall - 10/10.
